Kamari - Santorini

line mountain

Kamari is a seaside village in the southeastern part of the island of Santorini, in the Cyclades archipelago. It has the famous beach with black sand and crystal clear waters. The large seafront promenade is ideal for enjoyable walks full of cafes, shops and shops all within walking distance.

Above the beach rises the imposing Mesa Vouno, where Ancient Thira was built. Kamari was the port of Ancient Thira and was called Thira. The current name comes from the small arch that still stands at the southern end of the beach and is the only remnant of the ancient temple dedicated to the god Poseidon.
